At EID, people are the foundation of our company, and EID is today a combination of their stories, experiences and passions. With over 40 years of projects and relationships, it is their collective effort that enables us to continue expanding and reaching every corner of the globe. In this section, we introduce you to the members of our team, whose unwavering commitment and dedication have shaped EID into what it is today.
Today, we are privileged to speak with Rute Duarte, Quality Engineer at EID. Rute’s career provides us with invaluable insights into the innovation embedded in EID’s DNA and the remarkable milestones the company has achieved over the years.
- How was your integration into the team, and what were your first impressions of the company’s culture and work environment when you started working within EID?
My integration at EID team was extremely smooth and welcoming. From the outset, I was greeted by colleagues who were always available to clarify any doubts, which greatly facilitated my adaptation to the company’s operations. I have been at EID for only a year, but I feel completely integrated. My experience so far confirms my initial impressions: EID values a work environment where communication and teamwork are priorities, contributing to a positive and motivating professional atmosphere.
- Would you like to comment on any current challenges you are facing at the company?
The biggest challenge I face at EID is the Transformation Project. The changes happening at EID in terms of organizational culture, facilities and IT systems are having a significant impact on the way we work and this requires the Integrated Management System we have in place to keep up with that development. Considering the numerous aspects involved (Quality, Environment and Information Security), it truly demands a great deal of effort.
- Quality is an essential factor in all areas of the company. Could you share a situation, since you’ve been at EID, where your intervention was important to ensure that quality standards were maintained?
Quality is, in fact, an essential factor in all areas of EID, and it is a principle that guides my work as the person responsible for the Integrated Management System. A clear example of my efforts to ensure quality standards occurred in a project where it was necessary to manage product quality, environmental impact, and information security simultaneously.
During the management of this project, I worked closely with all company departments, from order receipt to equipment dispatch. We identified critical areas in the process that could compromise quality standards and implemented corrective measures, such as reviewing procedures and training the team to ensure execution aligned with requirements. At the same time, actions were taken to mitigate environmental impacts and minimise risks to information security, maintaining an integrated and efficient approach.
The result was the delivery of a product that not only met the client’s expectations but also reinforced our commitment to sustainability and information protection. This case exemplifies how the Integrated Management System enables EID to consistently uphold its high-quality standards.
- How do you view the collaborative work between the Quality Department and the other teams at EID? What are the key factors for good cooperation and communication between departments?
Collaborative work between the Quality Department and the other teams within the company is essential for achieving organisational goals and ensuring continuous improvement. Quality plays a crucial role in defining standards and effective processes that serve as guides for performance and excellence. However, these efforts only become effective when teams incorporate these practices into their daily routines and understand the value they bring so we need to balance and promote a healthy relationship between teams.
THANK YOU!
