“Starting with our home market allows us to refine our C4i solutions and build trust. Our ultimate goal is to expand these capabilities to international partners.” This was but one of Pedro Araújo’s key take-aways during an interview on TSF’s Negócios em Português.
EID’s state of the art naval solutions took the spotlight as the company’s Director of Programs and Strategic Partnerships discussed the latest advancements showcased at Euronaval 2024, particularly its groundbreaking C4i platform.
The C4i platform, in this case designed for naval vessels allows the future integration of advanced technologies like cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, through an easy platform that functions similarly to an app store for the defense industry. During the interview, Pedro Araújo emphasized the strategic importance of this solution for both the Portuguese Navy and the broader international market:
“This platform represents a significant leap forward for naval defense. Our focus has been on aligning innovation with NATO and EU standards while addressing the growing complexity of military requirements.”
Strengthening Portugal’s Defense Industry
Another key highlight during the interview, was EID’s role in positioning Portugal as a key player in the global defense sector. The C4i platform’s ongoing integration into the Portuguese Navy’s new Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) was a central theme, demonstrating the company’s commitment to driving domestic innovation with global scalability.
“Starting with our home market allows us to refine our solutions and build trust. Our ultimate goal is to expand these capabilities to international partners.”
The discussion also touched on EID’s collaboration with emerging startups to explore cutting-edge technologies, including human-machine interaction and voice recognition systems.
Looking Ahead
Reflecting on Euronaval 2024, Pedro shared his optimism about EID’s growing global footprint, noting promising discussions with South American and European partners:
“The exhibition and this platform give us a chance to adapt to evolving market needs while strengthening Portugal’s role in European defense autonomy.”
