EID has continued its proximity work with the Portuguese Army, providing high-performance tactical communications systems and next generation IP intercom systems as part of ongoing supply contracts.
In September 2020, EID delivered autonomous tactical deployable communication systems, each including two PRC-525 high-performance digital combat net radios (CNR) covering HF, VHF and UHF frequency bands.
The systems provide communication range extension and can be used as gateways between two frequency nets, supporting all PRC-525 CNR operating modes, including fixed, digital and fast frequency, frequency and frequency hopping, it allocates voice and data connections up to 72 kbps. The solution is housed in modular, very robust and transportable enclosures, having operation autonomy for several hours, besides the capability to be power sourced by AC mains, field electricity generators and solar panels.
EID has also supplied the customer with the latest generation of its ICC-401 IP intercom systems, based on a fully IP concept. The ICC-401 offers a very high performance and compact communications platform, tailored to meet the most demanding customer needs, playing an important role on the improvement of C4ISR systems and complying with NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) standard (STANAG 4754).
The intercom delivers clear voice and data communications among the crew members inside the vehicles and to outside forces connected via radio equipment under any kind of conditions. Furthermore its also vehicle subsystems agnostic, allowing a seamless integration of several types of on-board equipment such has, legacy or high capacity software defined radios (SDR), personal radios, satcom, Battle Management Systems (BMS) etc., into a coherent communications system, allowing interoperability between equipment of different manufacturers, low SWaP and reduced costs.
About the supply of both systems, Nuno Cordeiro, EID Sales Manager, comments: “We’re proud to continue to support the Portuguese Army through the supply of tactical communications’ systems. As a trusted partner EID is fully committed with continuous development and delivery of high-performance and reliable systems to deal with present and future challenges.“
