EID system already installed in 210 ships worldwide
EID, the Portuguese advanced defence communications company, will install its Integrated Communications System (ICS) on two ships of the Chilean Navy: Almirante Blanco Encalada and Almirante Riveros. This is the first time that the company has entered the Chilean market.
These ships were acquired from the Dutch Navy, who alongside the Belgian Navy have been using EID systems on board their M Class frigates since 2015.
Already tried and tested in real combat operations and joint NATO exercises, the system uses a modular concept capable of being adapted to any type of situation and military vessel, from aircraft carriers and submarines to patrol ships and coastal vessels.
With a presence in 18 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom, the EID ICS core system, the OceaNEX ICCS series, is already serving on 210 vessels across the globe.
Designed with the aim of improving operational and tactical performance, the ICCS manages the internal and external communications of the naval fleet, guaranteeing the highest level of security, thanks to its high degree of automation.
Martin Bennett, CEO of EID, said that the company “continues to respond to the specific needs of navies around the world. Providing interoperability and operational flexibility are core to EID’s OceaNEX systems with the continuing innovation found in our products reflecting the evolving needs of our customers. We are very proud of our new partnership with the Chilean Navy, and the continued international success for EID this highlights”, concludes the CEO of the Portuguese advanced technology company.
The OceaNex range of systems enables navies to capture and disseminate information to maximise mission performance. The core Integrated Communication Control System (ICCS) incorporates leading edge technologies that enables responsive and secure balanced complete internal and external Integrated Communication Systems (ICS), enabling armed forces to face different defence and security challenges including the need to ensure cybersecurity.
