A new EUR 7,5 million contract awarded by the Portuguese Ministry of Defence

Published 07 July 2017

EID was recently awarded a contract by the Portuguese Ministry of Defence (Portuguese MoD) to provide software-defined digital multiband, multirole, and multimode tactical PRC-525 radio systems for the Portuguese Army.

The PRC-525 is already in service in the Portuguese Army and Navy; the initial contract, amounting to around forty million euros, was completed in 2015; the new contract confirms the excellent performance of the EID radios, which have been extensively used in operational scenarios, in exercises and peace keeping missions.

The new lot of radios will be integrated in the Army’s Tactical Communication and Information System (SIC-T), a program that is part of the Military Programming Law approved in May 15 and which shall be launched soon.

António Marcos Lopes, EID Managing Director, states “This new contract demonstrates the trust the Portuguese Ministry of Defence has on EID’s knowledge, products and solutions. We are very honoured to be able to supply once again our Army with the necessary tools to do their very best on the field.”
